Cabinet from April 1979 to January 1980

Adolfo Suárez González is the first President of the Government following the approval of the Constitution in 1978, although he had held this post during the Constituent Legislature.

Following his victory in the general elections of 1 March 1979, he formally takes office as President of the Government in the Lower House of Parliament on 30 March 1979.

The Royal Decree confirming his appointment is published in the Official State Gazette (Spanish acronym: BOE) on 2 April 1979. On the same day he is officially sworn in before the King at Zarzuela Palace

On 6 April 1979, the Official State Gazette publishes a Royal Decree appointing the First Vice-President of the Government; a Royal Decree appointing the Second Vice-President of the Government and a Royal Decree appointing his cabinet ministers.

The members of the first constitutional government are officially sworn in before the King on the same day.

Cabinet from February 1981 to September 1981

EFEAdolfo Suárez González stands down as President of the Government on 29 January 1981. Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo y Bustelo is appointed to take over, and he is officially ratified by the Lower House of Parliament as the new President of the Government on 25 February.

On 26 February 1981, the Royal Decree formalising the end of the term of office of Adolfo Suárez González as President of the Government is published in the Official State Gazette.

Furthermore, a Royal Decree is published confirming the appointment of Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo y Bustelo as the second constitutional President of the Government after being officially sworn in before the King at Zarzuela Palace on the same day.

The following day, 27 February, a Royal Decree is published in the Official State Gazette appointing the new cabinet ministers.
