The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, this afternoon concluded his day in Andalusia to assess the situation in towns affected by the recent storms with a visit to Villanueva de la Reina (Jaén). This morning he visited Huétor Tájar, in Granada.

In Villanueva de la Reina, the head of the Executive met with its mayor, Blas Alvés, and with other mayors from towns in the area affected by the flooding of the Guadalquivir River. In this town, the river reached record levels, causing flooding in several public spaces, evacuations, and cutting off the main access road.

The President of the Government of Spain, who was accompanied by the First Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister for Finance, María Jesús Montero, and by the Government Delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, reiterated to the mayors the commitment of the Government of Spain to those affected and stressed that he will put into action all government mechanisms to tackle the reconstruction.
