The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, travelled to the headquarters of the General Directorate of Civil Protection and Emergencies, in Madrid, where he chaired the meeting of the Risk Assessment Unit that is monitoring the evolution of storms 'Leonardo' and 'Marta', which are battering large areas of the Iberian Peninsula.

Civil Protection officials briefed the president on the current situation and the actions being taken in response to this climate emergency, as well as the coordination efforts with the various public administrations and agencies involved in its management.

Pedro Sánchez, who the previous day flew over areas of Andalusia affected by the storm and went to the Advanced Command Post to monitor the emergency in the Cadiz municipality of San Roque, was accompanied at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Civil Protection by the Third Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Sara Aagesen, and the Minister for Home Affairs, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
