Pedro Sánchez has highlighted the Japanese multinational's commitment to Spain, where it was established in 1930, and has analysed the Japanese group's investments in tractor sectors with the company's senior executives, as well as its strong regional presence. Specifically, they discussed the company's announced investments in Spain in the manufacture of electrical equipment necessary for the generation of renewable energy, and the opportunities in different areas such as railways or R&D, among others.

The Japanese electronics and industrial manufacturer currently has 2,500 employees in Spain and operates in several segments, including rail mobility, energy and digital services. Hitachi Rail has laboratories in Madrid for production, testing and validation of software, traffic control and maintenance centres.

Hitachi Energy has two production centres in Cordoba and Zaragoza, a service centre in Vizcaya, and engineering units in Madrid and Barcelona. The company recently announced an investment of 30 million euros to expand its electrical equipment factory in Zaragoza, which will be operational by the end of 2026, as well as an investment last year of 80 million euros until 2027 to expand the Cordoba plant.

Hitachi Digital Services also has software centres in Valencia and Malaga. The Japanese multinational also has a photonic integrated circuits and particle therapy subsidiary dedicated to curing cancer.
