The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, held a meeting at the Moncloa Palace Complex with the CEO of InnoEnergy, Diego Pavía, and the CEO in Spain, Mikel Lasa, in which they analysed their activities and projects in Spain.
Pedro Sánchez highlighted the Government's firm commitment to leading the energy transition and clean industry, and to turn Spain into a renewable energy power. Spain currently devotes four out of every ten euros of NextGenerationEU funds to green transformation and is the fifth most sustainable economy among the world's major economies. In addition, 56% of its electricity production comes from renewable sources, which is helping to generate quality employment and to bring the price of electricity 30% below its European competitors.
At the meeting, InnoEnergy representatives detailed their activities and main projects, especially those developed in Spain. InnoEnergy is dedicated to investing in technology-intensive, early-stage European projects and companies focused on energy transition and clean technologies.
They also thanked the Government for its support in the Sunwafe project, one of the company's flagship projects. This is a wafer production plant manufacturing photovoltaic panels, with an investment of 670 million euros in its first phase and 2,600 jobs in Gijón (Asturias). This state-of-the-art project has received 200 million euros from the Recovery Plan, within the renewable energy and storage industrial value chain aid line, managed by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE).
