The President of the Government of Spain receives Hillary Clinton at Moncloa Palace

Sánchez and Clinton discussed the climate emergency and the important agreements reached at COP28. They also addressed the fight for gender equality, a priority for the Government of Spain, which is integrating the gender perspective in a cross-cutting manner in all government action.

With regard to the international situation, the president and the former US Secretary of State analysed the geopolitical situation, marked by the war in Ukraine and the conflict in Gaza. They also reflected on the rise of reactionary movements and populisms in Europe and the rest of the world, and the danger they represent for democracies.
