This was the second Conference of Presidents to meet in person outside the Senate, with the institutional presence of His Majesty King Felipe VI, who held a meeting with the participants before they began the plenary session.

At this meeting, the president tabled an extraordinary purchase of Pfizer vaccines consisting of 3.4 million doses to the regional leaders, within the European vaccine purchasing strategy, thanks to which the objective of having 70% of the population vaccinated before the end of the summer will be achieved.

The regional presidents were also able to learn about the progress made in the implementation of the Plan of 130 Measures to Face the Demographic Challenge, which has an initial estimated investment of 10 billion euros.

Similarly, President Sánchez told the regional presidents that they will manage 55% of the funds by 2021, i.e. 10.5 billion euros of the 19 billion that Spain will have available this year.

As well as the regional presidents, and on behalf of the government, the conference was attended by President Pedro Sánchez, the Vice-Presidents Nadia Calviño, Yolanda Díaz, and Teresa Ribera, as well as Ministers María Jesús Montero, Isabel Rodríguez, Félix Bolaños, and Carolina Darias.

At the end of the meeting, the minister spokesperson highlighted how all the presidents agreed on the value of the conferences held online during the pandemic to coordinate the actions of all regions at that exceptional time, and that today's meeting was held in a relaxed and enriching tone.
