Spanish troops are deployed and integrated there to contribute effectively to deterrence, and if necessary, to the security of Romania and other NATO allies. This is the objective of the 206 Spanish military personnel integrated in the Multinational Battlegroup stationed in Cincu since 23 May, where it will remain until 9 December.

During these six months, different training protocols are being activated in four phases and specific capabilities deployed, including tactical reconnaissance with RPAS (drones), maintenance and logistical transport, and medical support and evacuation.

The Minister for Defence visited the Spanish Marines with the king, a meeting that highlights that "Spain is a serious, committed and responsible partner", said Margarita Robles, who expressed her pride in the Spanish Armed Forces, which she considers to be an example of "professionalism and leadership, wherever they are required".

During her visit to the manoeuvres, the minister shared her impressions with the Spanish military, whom she thanked for their work to ensure security and the defence of democratic values in the current international situation.

In addition to its participation in this group, Spain is present with the 'Tigru' detachment, which has 39 airmen from the Air and Space Army to reinforce the allied presence in the area, as well as an early warning and long-range radar, which already has 20,000 hours of surveillance.

Spain has increased its presence and capabilities in NATO's deterrence and defence missions on its Eastern flank in recent years to meet the Alliance's international commitments and obligations.

Meeting with the President of Romania

Prior to visiting the Spanish troops, the minister accompanied the King in his meeting with the President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, at the Joint Training Centre at the Cincu base.

The President expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the Spanish Armed Forces, pointing out that this kind of support and joint work is a way of building Europe.
