Spain has performed more than 20.8 million diagnostic tests since start of epidemic

In the last week, between 11 and 17 December, the regional governments have performed a total of 619,124 PCR tests, an average of 88,446 a day.

In addition, from 11 to 17 December, the regional governments have performed a total of 334,325 antigen tests (47,760 a day). Including the PCR tests performed, this amounts to a total of 953,449 diagnostic tests over the course of the week, 136,207 a day. Accordingly, the number of diagnostic tests has increased by 5%, at a rate of 443.07 tests per 1,000 inhabitants.

New techniques are gradually being developed for the diagnosis of the infection caused by SARS-Cov2, such as the rapid antigen tests that the Regional Health Departments are starting to introduce to manage the pandemic.
