Following the end of the transition period, for all purposes regardless of whether an agreement is reached as to the future relationship between the European Union and the United Kingdom, in the case of specimens of species included in the CITES Appendices and the Annexes of Regulation (EC) 338/97, which until now could be imported using certificates for EU use or a simple invoice, companies will have to request import and export permits and re-export certificates for specimens of species included in Annexes A and B of Regulation (EC) 338/97; import notifications for specimens of species included in Annexes C and D of Regulation (EC) 338/97; and a Species Under Control Inspection Document (Spanish acronym: DIESAC) in all trading operations.

The permit must be obtained before the trading operation is carried out. It may be requested online from the SOIVRE inspection service of any of the Territorial or Provincial Directorates of Trade.

Once the goods have arrived physically, and before the customs clearing procedures, the operator must submit an inspection application to one of the 12 SOIVRE Inspection Services through a Species Under Control Inspection Document (DIESAC). The goods must be accompanied by the corresponding permits and certificates already processed.
