President of the Government attends award ceremony for presentation of Cervantes Prize to Elena Poniatowska

23/04/2014. The President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, attended the award ceremony for the presentation of the "Miguel de Cervantes" 2013 Literature Prize in the Spanish language to the writer Elena Poniatowska in the Main Hall of the University of Alcalá de Henares.

    Minister for Justice announces introduction of objective criteria in nationality tests

    The Cervantes Institute will be responsible for organising the tests. Those persons coming from countries where Spanish is the official language will be exempt from taking the language test. The test will be adapted to cater for the illiterate and persons with disabilities. Children at school in Spain will not need to take the test.

    10.1 million inbound tourists visit Spain in first quarter of 2014, up 7.2%

    According to the FRONTUR Survey on Frontier Tourist Movements drafted by the General Sub-directorate of Tourism Information and Studies of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, Spain was visited by 10.1 million inbound tourists in the first quarter of the year, representing an increase of 7.2% on the same period last year and 677,000 more tourists.
