Pedro Sánchez chairs coordination meeting on the evolving situation in Ceuta

The head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, chaired a coordination meeting via videoconference on the current situation in the Autonomous City of Ceuta, which was also attended by the Minister for Defence, Margarita Robles; the Minister for Home Affairs, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; the Minister for Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres; the Minister for Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz; the Minister for Youth and Children, Sira Rego; and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Global Affairs, Diego Martínez.

The President of the Government of Spain and the ministers reviewed the situation in Ceuta to assess ongoing efforts and implement new measures aimed at assisting migrants still in the autonomous city and reinforcing security and well-being guarantees for the local population. The Government of Spain will continue to use all State mechanisms and resources necessary to ensure that Ceuta and its citizens return to complete normality as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the Government requested this Friday - on its own initiative and during an extraordinary parliamentary session - that the Minister for Home Affairs, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; the Minister for Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares; the Minister for Defence, Margarita Robles; and the Minister for the Presidency, Justice and Parliamentary Relations, Félix Bolaños, appear before the Lower House of Parliament to report on their work to the Committees on Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security.
