President Sánchez highlighted Spain's success as an example of how valuable enlargement can be for the Union and its citizens. He also recalled that democracy and the rule of law are key principles for integration and expressed his support for the new generation of accession treaties.
In this regard, Pedro Sánchez conveyed his appreciation for the progress made by Montenegro and Albania. He also expressed Spain's support for the immediate opening of the first cluster within the framework of the accession negotiations for Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union.
