The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, today commemorated Europe Day in a meeting with Spanish citizens whose personal experiences reflect the positive impact of the European Union on their lives. On the occasion of this meeting, he pointed out that their stories embody the values and initiatives of the European Union, such as innovation, entrepreneurship, digitalisation, mobility and social cohesion.

Pedro Sánchez also paid tribute to the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations for European cooperation and ushered in a new era of peace, integration and democratic collaboration between the members of the European project.

Izaskun, Carlos, Alba, Juan and Audra represent, according to the president, the values and initiatives of the European Union in many areas such as scientific progress, entrepreneurship, digitalisation, mobility, protection of a fair market, without forgetting the formation of personal bonds that shape the concept of European citizenship.

The President of the Government of Spain told them that the European Union is the greatest peace and unity project in history, and that it contributes to improving the lives of citizens. In this sense, he insisted that Europe is not an abstract entity in Brussels, but is built every day with the active participation of citizens, among all of us.
