The two men reviewed the European position with regard to some of the forthcoming milestones in the field of external relations, including the VII European Union-Africa Summit (EU-AU) and the IV European Union-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Summit (EU-CELAC).

The President and the Commissioner also discussed the European Commission's participation in the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development to be held in Seville from 30 June to 3 July.

Pedro Sánchez conveyed to Jozef Síkela how important it is that the meeting represents a step forward in the defence of the multilateral order, and most importantly an ambitious commitment to strengthening international cooperation led by the EU.
