The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has held a meeting at the La Moncloa complex with the CEO of Cellnex Telecom, Marco Patuano, where he discussed the challenges facing the telecommunications sector and the strategic nature of this Spanish wireless telecommunications infrastructure service provider.

During the meeting, Patuano conveyed to the head of the Executive the company's commitment to Spain and Cellnex's desire to continue investing in our country in the coming years, supported by the digitalisation policies developed by the Government to advance and lead the digital transformation process in Europe.

Pedro Sánchez highlighted the importance of strategic companies such as Cellnex for the development of infrastructures and technologies such as 5G in Spain, and thanked the company for its willingness to continue investing in our country.

In recent years, Spain has made a big commitment to the country's digital transformation, through the Digital Spain Agenda, with 30% of the Next Generation European funds from the Recovery Plan dedicated to digitalisation. Thanks to the policies adopted and public-private collaboration, 100% connectivity has been achieved throughout the territory via fibre and satellite. In addition, Spain has invested more than €1 billion since 2018, in broadband deployment and, at European level, is the leading country in number of connected households.
