Moncloa Palace, Madrid

These young people are part of the 'COP27 Generation' initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, in collaboration with the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities. It aims to integrate the voice of Spanish youth in international climate summits.

"I am deeply convinced that the interests of young people must be consolidated as a primary reference in international negotiations on climate action. For me and my government, the climate emergency is a priority. I do not have to convince you, but we must join forces to persuade the whole of society that the ecological transition is not only necessary but an opportunity to progress as a country", the president told them.

COP27 will be the African COP where priority issues for the region will be highlighted: adaptation, loss and damage associated with climate change, and the financing agenda. In addition, Spain, together with Senegal, will launch a new International Drought Resilience Partnership.
