The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, met with the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, within the framework of the 8th summit between the European Union and the Western Balkans.

During the meeting, they signed a standard agreement on the prevention of tax evasion and double taxation, as well as a protocol on economic and financial cooperation between the two governments. This agreement will apply to relevant sectors such as transport, mining, telecommunications and cybersecurity, among others.

President Sánchez said that the signing of the two agreements represents a step forward in strengthening bilateral relations between Spain and Montenegro, which are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. The two leaders addressed the talks on EU enlargement.

The Prime Minister of Montenegro thanked Pedro Sánchez for Spain's support in the membership process, and the President of the Government of Spain praised the efforts of the Montenegrin government, which today place the country as the most advanced among the candidates to join the EU bloc.
