The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, chaired the 11th meeting of the Interministerial Commission for Recovery, Transformation and Resilience at the Moncloa Palace, where progress in the implementation of the Next Generation funds and the final steps to successfully complete the Plan were analysed, consolidating the process of transformation and modernisation of the Spanish economy.

The President of the Government of Spain underlined the efforts made by the various ministries to receive the sixth disbursement, requested last March, which will be received in the coming weeks. This will bring the total amount to approximately €6.5 billion, of which €5.5 billion will be in grants and €1 billion in loans. Thus, Spain continues to lead the European Union in the number of milestones and objectives met (265), pending validation of the sixth disbursement by the European Commission. With this, Spain reinforces its European leadership by having already requested 75% of the total funds available for the country.

In this regard, Pedro Sánchez praised the smooth progress in the implementation and the achievement of milestones and objectives, which will allow the funds to be used to their fullest potential. As of 31 March, Spain had processed applications for more than €66.982 billion, benefiting over 1.46 million recipients, 69.7% of whom are micro-enterprises and SMEs. The head of the Executive encouraged everyone to accelerate their efforts to successfully complete the Plan before the implementation deadline of 31 August. To this end, the ministries and other public administrations involved are working to ensure the achievement of milestones in preparation for the request for the seventh and final disbursement of approximately €21 billion gross in transfers and €5.6 billion gross in loans, within the established deadline of 30 September.
