In the Government control session, Pedro Sánchez stressed that the economic, employment and social results of the government's actions "are having a positive effect on citizens".

In his reply to Member Gabriel Rufián, of the Republican Parliamentary Group, the head of the Executive highlighted the Government's commitment to economic growth, reducing inequality and strengthening public services, and recalled that these are the objectives of the General State Administration's Annual Regulatory Plan for the year 2026, which the Executive approved on 30 April.

The President of the Government of Spain detailed that the Annual Regulatory Plan contains a total of 179 initiatives: 10 organic laws, 38 ordinary laws and 131 royal decrees"; among which are regulations such as the Organic Law on Public Integrity, the Law on Corporate Democracy, the Law on Child Protection, the Law on Medicines and Health Products, the Law on the Public Service of Free Legal Aid, or the Organic Law on the Protection of the Right to Honour, which, in his opinion, "is going to be much more protective and adapted to the digital environment".

Pedro Sánchez also highlighted the Government's capacity "to bring forward legislative initiatives that are important for the benefit of the majority of the people, even with a parliamentary minority".

Pedro Sánchez also reminded the Member Gabriel Rufián that the government has presented a bill to regulate all lobbying in the public sector.

The head of the Executive indicated that the project "is awaiting parliamentary approval" and that it was one of the bills included in the Democratic Regeneration Plan that he himself presented to Congress on 17 July 2024.

At the time, the President of the Government of Spain explained that the main measures of this plan proposed reforms in the Executive power and the media, and proposed initiatives to the Legislative power to promote transparency and accountability, as well as to strengthen the freedom of expression and guarantee the right to truthful information as set out in Article 20 of the Constitution.

Growth, employment and social progress in eight years of Government

In response to a question from Alberto Núñez Feijóo of the People's Parliamentary Group, Pedro Sánchez reiterated that "growth, job creation and social progress" are the defining aspects of the "eight years of a progressive coalition government".

The President of the Government of Spain recalled that there will be elections in 2027 and said that, "if the Spanish people want us to, we will be here for another four years, to continue moving Spain forward".
