Moncloa Palace, Madrid

The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has held a meeting at the Moncloa Palace with representatives of associations of victims of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. The head of the Executive was accompanied by the Minister for the Presidency, Justice and Parliamentary Relations, Félix Bolaños.

This meeting comes after the signing yesterday of an agreement between the Government, the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE), and the Conference of Religious (Confer) to establish a system of recognition and reparation for victims of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church.

At the meeting, the president stressed the importance of the agreement reached, which he believes achieves justice and settles a debt owed to the victims.

Sánchez reiterated the Government's commitment, thanked the groups for their support, and explained that the Executive will guarantee full compliance with what has been agreed.
