The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, announced that Spain will join the coalition formed on Monday to analyse ways in which the aviation sector can contribute to a just ecological transition. He did so during his participation in the Pact for Prosperity, People and the Planet (4P) event.

The 4P initiative, born out of the 2023 Paris Summit, includes 73 countries and aims to combine poverty eradication solutions with protecting the planet. The event, promoted by Kenya and France, has launched the aviation initiative within the framework of the 'Global Solidarity Levies Task Force'. In addition to the President of the Government of Spain, the President of Kenya, William Ruto, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, also spoke.

Pedro Sánchez stressed that the 4P initiative connects perfectly with the Seville Platform for Action, launched this Monday at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, with its philosophy of taking concrete and practical steps to promote sustainable development. "The reality is clear: no single country can tackle climate change, debt sustainability, growing inequality or financing for development on its own. When we act alone, we go nowhere, but when we work together we can achieve the goals we set out to achieve.

Bilateral meetings and gala dinner

During the first day of the Conference, Pedro Sánchez held bilateral meetings with various heads of state and government. Specifically, he met with the President of the Republic of Kenya, William Ruto; the Prime Minister of the State of Palestine, Mohammad Mustafa; the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo; and the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

Finally, at the end of the day, the President of the Government of Spain offered a gala dinner for the leaders participating in the summit, which took place at the Palacio de Dueñas in Seville.
