The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has held a meeting at the Moncloa Palace with the interim president of Seat and Cupra, Markus Haupt, to discuss the company's strategic projects for the coming years.

Pedro Sánchez highlighted the Government's firm commitment to continue promoting the reindustrialisation and decarbonisation of the economy, encouraging public-private partnership in the deployment of electric mobility and supporting the strategic automotive sector. In this regard, they looked at Spain's progress towards sustainable mobility and electrification, including the remarkable expansion of the electric vehicle charging infrastructure, with more than 40,000 public charging points in operation.

Last May, the Executive launched the fourth call for proposals for the PERTE for Electric and Connected Vehicles, 1.25 billion euros (1 billion euros in loans and 250 million euros in grants). This new amount comes in addition to the 2.5 billion euros already mobilised in previous calls, which have benefited nearly 300 companies throughout the automotive value chain, including Seat.

In addition, the Government has extended the programme of incentives linked to electric mobility MOVES III, worth 400 million euros, which includes aid, extended retroactively from 1 January, for the purchase of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.

The company, which manufactures and markets vehicles under the Seat and Cupra brands, employs 14,000 professionals and has three production centres in Spain.
