Spain's announcement was made in coordination with the governments of Norway and Ireland, which have also taken the same decision.

The head of the Executive conveyed to the Lebanese prime minister his confidence that this decision will soon lead other countries to adopt the same position, and that this step will contribute to relaunching a political negotiation process that will make it possible to reach a peace agreement that will put a definitive end to the violence.

President Sanchez and Prime Minister Mikati agreed on the need for a peace agreement in Palestine to bring stability and security to the entire region, and in particular to Lebanon's southern border. They discussed the situation in the south of the country, commending the work of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), currently under the command of Spanish General Aroldo Lázaro Sáenz.

Pedro Sánchez reiterated the importance of Euro-Arab concertation to create the necessary context for implementing the two-state solution.
