President Zelenski thanked Spain for its support for Ukraine, both bilaterally and within the framework of the EU. President Sánchez condemned the Russian attacks on the civilian population and reiterated Spain's support for Ukraine, which will be maintained for as long as necessary. The two countries are currently negotiating a long-term political security agreement in the framework of the Declaration of Support for Ukraine issued by the G7 countries in Vilnius in July 2023 and supported by Spain.

The President also said that the Government of Spain will increase military support in 2024 with new capabilities to continue contributing to the defence of Ukraine vis-à-vis Russian aggression, which has been going on for more than two years now.

The two leaders discussed the possibility of Ukraine convening a Peace Summit in the coming months, based on the Ukrainian Peace Formula. Spain is committed to and works with the international community to achieve a just and lasting peace that respects the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, including those of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and the holding of a Peace Summit that should have broad international support.
