During the meeting, the president congratulated the Foundation, highlighting the positive figures for 2022 for the awarding of postgraduate and doctoral scholarships, almost 600, which are in addition to the 2,000 awarded since 2018.

Sánchez indicated that the faith the government places in the Foundation is based on its good work. The president took the opportunity to highlight the budgetary increase in funds for development cooperation, one of the hallmarks of Spain's external action and its contribution to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The event was an important occasion to underline Spain's ambition to reshape political and economic relations between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean. To this end, the President stressed that there will be two important milestones in 2023: the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit in the Dominican Republic, and the European Union-CELAC Summit in Brussels, under the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Sánchez concluded his speech by encouraging the companies and entities that form part of the Board of Trustees of the Carolina Foundation to continue to support this project of prestige, excellence and solidarity.
