The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has taken part in the 7th Replenishment Conference for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis convened by the President of the United States, Joe Biden, in New York.

During his speech, the President of the Government of Spain announced that Spain will contribute EUR 15 million to the Financial Intermediary Fund, managed by the World Bank, to help developing countries in preventing, preparing for and responding to pandemics. This announcement is in addition to the contribution of EUR 130 million over three years that Spain will make to the Global Fund to fight these diseases.

Pedro Sánchez recalled that health is a public good and stressed that, "everyone who needs it must have access to appropriate treatment, especially the most vulnerable people in developing countries".
