The chief Executive stressed the importance of the agreement reached with Morocco, which lays "the foundations for a more solid and sincere relationship between the two countries". "This agreement is extraordinary news for Spain and Morocco," the president stressed.

In this regard, Sánchez stated that the agreement with Morocco "opens a new stage that consolidates several aspects of the relationship between the two countries, linked to security, migration control and economic and trade relations".

At the same time, the President of the Government of Spain reaffirmed the Government's commitment to the progress and future of Ceuta, through "a State policy that guarantees a future of progress and opportunities for Ceuta based on the stability and security of the autonomous city".

During his visit, Sánchez met with the president of the Autonomous City, Juan Jesús Vivas, whom he thanked for his support for the Government of Spain in times of crisis. The chief executive has also acknowledged the construction works of the Port of Ceuta's new Maritime Station, a strategic project with an investment of 16.5 million euros, which signifies a leap towards modernity of the urban-port maritime front, through the Investment Plan 2021-2025 of the Port Authority of Ceuta.

Likewise, the President of the Government of Spain highlighted the importance of the work plans in Ceuta and Melilla to guarantee the security of the autonomous cities, strengthen the mobilisation of resources in both regions and develop a new socio-economic model of prosperity through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which provides for an investment of more than 27 million euros for Ceuta.
