President of the Government of Spain meets with Minister for Foreign Affairs of People's Democratic Republic of Algeria

Moncloa Palace, Madrid, Monday 29 March 2021

At the meeting, Pedro Sánchez highlighted that Spain aspires to becoming the benchmark trading partner of Algeria, and not just in the energy sector.

The President of the Government and the Algerian Minister for Foreign Affairs also reviewed the evolution of the pandemic in both countries. They discussed the situation in the region, particularly in the Sahel and Libya.

Both countries wish to hold the upcoming High-Level Meeting as and when conditions so permit. Spain is the European country with which Algeria has held most High-Level Meetings - every two years - a display of the intensity of bilateral relations.
