Pedro Sánchez chairs meeting of National Security Council

During the meeting, the Minister for Health, Carolina Darias, evaluated the situation of the COVID-19 global pandemic in our country and the current state of the vaccination process in Spain.

Furthermore, and to comply with the request made by the President of the Government on 6 October to the National Security Council, the Reserve Strategy for health products within the capacity of the European Union was discussed.

The members of the council were also informed of the different aspects of illegal immigration in Spain, and of the evaluation of the 2019 National Counter-terrorism Strategy, the 2019 National Cybersecurity Strategy and the Strategic Plan to Combat Cyber Crime.

Furthermore, and following the presentation of the two documents, the CSN validated the 2020 Annual National Security Report and was informed of the content of the Comprehensive Culture of National Security Plan. The Development Project of the National Security System was also presented at the meeting.

It was also attended by the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Government and Secretary of the National Security Council; the State Secretary for Communication; the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and for Ibero-America and the Caribbean; the Chief of the Defence Staff; the State Secretary Director of the National Intelligence Centre; the State Secretary for Security and the Director of the National Security Department of the Staff Office of the Presidency of the Government.
