Pedro Sánchez states that childhood must be a priority in overcoming COVID-19 crisis

Moncloa Palace, Madrid, Thursday 19 November 2020

The President of the Government inaugurated a webinar video organised by Eurochild -the European network of children's organisations - within the framework of the commemoration of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Pedro Sánchez claimed that "addressing child poverty is a preliminary requirement in overcoming the Covid-19 crisis in a sustainable fashion", and that "placing childhood at the heart of our recovery is a moral, political and economic obligation". The President of the Government also highlighted the measures adopted by the government to combat child poverty, such as the creation of the High Commissioner for the Fight against Child Poverty and the approval of the Minimum Living Income.

The webinar also included the participation of the High Commissioner, Ernesto Gasco, representatives from the European Commission, from the Government of Germany, from UNICEF and from the Childhood Platform and members of the association CAJE and from Cyber-correspondents (the network of young journalists from the Childhood Platform).
