The Cervantes Institute has two central offices in Madrid and Alcalá de Henares, and has centres in 45 countries, in which 148,670 students are enrolled. 5,160 activities have been developed over the last year, according to figures provided by its director, Luis García Montero.

The presentation of the yearbook "Spanish in the world 2019", the opening of a new centre in Los Angeles and its participation at the International Language Congress 2022 to be held in Arequipa (Peru) are some of the upcoming projects and activities announced.

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the Cervantes Institute, and King Felipe VI is the Honorary President and the President of the Government is the Executive President. The meeting was also attended by the Acting Minister for Education and Vocational Training, Isabel Celaá, and the Acting Minister for Culture and Sport, José Guirao.
