Moncloa Palace, Madrid

During their meeting, Pedro Sánchez and Viorica Dăncilă spoke about the common programme to help contribute to re-launching the European project. They both declared their wishes to make significant contributions to the debate on the future of Europe, which is founded on solidarity and cooperation between Member States.

Within the framework of bilateral relations, the two leaders signed two Memoranda of Understanding, one on defence that includes the exchange of experiences, best practices and joint exercises between the two countries, and the other on cooperation between the National Institute for Spanish Public Administration and its Romanian counterpart. Pedro Sánchez and Viorica Dăncilă also signed a joint declaration to foster increased trade exchanges and investment between the two countries, and spoke about issues of common interest, including the presence of more than 1 million Romanians in Spain.

The meeting forms part of the round of bilateral contacts being held by the President of the Government to consolidate relations and cooperation with partner countries.
