Mariano Rajoy receives members of Business Council for Competitiveness

At the meeting, the President of the Government conveyed to the business leaders of the companies that make up the Business Council for Competitiveness the improvements in the economic situation and the changes being felt, the improvement in competitiveness, the end of the process of job losses, the increased credit available, the improvement in tax revenue and Spain's image overseas.

The President of the Government also commented with the top executives of these large companies on the National Reform Plan and the Stability Programme approved by the Council of Ministers on 30 April and submitted to the European Commission.

However, Mariano Rajoy underlined that there still remains a lot to be done and for that reason the government is not going to drop its guard. In this regard, he told them that it is important to maintain the progress on rebalancing the economy, continue gaining competitiveness and keep inflation low.

As regards the situation in Catalonia, the President of the Government reiterated his disposition to enter into dialogue within a framework of legality, the government's support for the Regional Government of Catalonia and warned that political instability is a risk to economic recovery.
