Condolences from the President of the Government on the death of Odón Alonso

Dear friends,

I would like to express my condolences on the death of Odón Alonso; one of the most important Spanish conductors of the latter half of the 20th century. Coming from a family of deep-rooted musical tradition, Odón Alonso played an essential role in the spread of classical music in our country through such important achievements as the creation of the Otoño Musical Soriano. The finest Spanish orchestras have all been led by the baton of this unforgettable conductor who, throughout his highly-productive career, was able to convey his passion for music to thousands of Spaniards. I would ask that you pass on my sincerest condolences to all of his family.
