The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, took part via videoconference in the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine, held to mark the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine's independence.
Spain is firmly committed to Ukraine, to a just and lasting peace, and to a sovereign and independent Ukraine, with full respect for its internationally recognised borders. Our country continues to condemn in the strongest terms the ongoing Russian attacks on the country, particularly those targeting the civilian population and critical infrastructure. Furthermore, Spain will continue to support Ukraine in the diplomatic, military, financial and humanitarian spheres, in coordination with its European partners and allies.
Continued support for Ukraine
Spain remains in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and continues to tailor its assistance to the country's most urgent needs, particularly in the face of attacks on the civilian population and critical infrastructure.
Furthermore, our country is one of the founding members of the new Ballistic Missile Defence Coalition, which aims to strengthen Ukraine's defences against threats to European security. Similarly, Spain supports Ukraine's accession process to the European Union and the reforms that the Ukrainian authorities continue to drive forward despite the difficulties resulting from the war.
Spain will continue to work actively within the Coalition of the Willing to agree on the best security guarantees for Ukraine once a ceasefire has been reached.
