Caminos Naturales and Paradores de Turismo expand their partnership to help visitors discover and enjoy rural Spain

From this year onwards, those exploring nature trails have new tools at their disposal to plan their routes and discover the heritage of the areas they travel through. The partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Paradores de Turismo de España has already resulted in initiatives available to the general public, which enhance the experience of the Spanish Network of Nature Trails for everyone.

Among the first measures already implemented is the inclusion of information on rest stops near the routes on the signposting of numerous nature trails, as well as on the network's map viewer and mobile app. These establishments are identified as points of interest, featuring descriptive information and images that help users plan their visits.

The Caminos Naturales website also features new content dedicated to the Paradores de Turismo de España located along each route, and a feature article with suggestions for exploring the region by combining nature, heritage and accommodation in historic buildings. In addition, both organisations carry out joint outreach activities on social media to publicise these experiences.

The partnership also extends to the 3rd Photography Competition organised by the Spanish Network of Nature Trails, which offers stays at Parador hotels as the main prize. The initiative will help to further expand the network's image library and to showcase some of the most iconic sites along these routes.

What's new in the second half of 2026

The partnership between Caminos Naturales and Paradores de Turismo de España is set to be expanded in the near future with new initiatives aimed at making it easier to plan routes and improving the information available to users.

Paradores will gradually add information about the nature trails located in the vicinity of each of its establishments to its customer service channels and on its website. To this end, a study has been carried out to identify the itineraries within each Parador's catchment area, enabling the creation of packages that combine accommodation, nature and heritage.

The 'Todos los Caminos llevan aroma' initiative will also be rolled out across the Paradores network. From September onwards, exhibition spaces are due to be set up at the establishments in La Palma and Jaén, where visitors can discover the fragrances developed for the La Palma Nature Trail and the Camino Natural Vía Verde del Aceite (Olive Oil Greenway Nature Trail).

Another new development will be the inclusion of rest stops located along the routes as new official stamping points for the Spanish Nature Trails and Greenways Passport. Participating establishments will provide stamps and passports so that visitors can document their route; this information will also be available on the Caminos Naturales website.

The Caminos Naturales programme, which has been run by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for over three decades, comprises more than 10,800 kilometres of routes spread across the whole of Spain.
