The Minister for Defence, Margarita Robles, held a meeting with Anatolie Nosatii, in which they both emphasised cooperation, the defence of democratic values, and peace. This is the first official visit by a Spanish Minister for Defence to Moldova.

The Minister for Defence, Margarita Robles, conveyed to her Moldovan counterpart, Anatolie Nosatii, "Spain's unwavering commitment to Ukraine." This is of vital importance to this country, which shares more than 1,000 kilometres of border with Ukraine, a fact that represents the primary concern for its government, which feels the threat almost daily on its territory.

Robles conveyed a message of reassurance to Nosatii, stating that "we defend the same values: human rights, international law, and peace." She added, "we will continue to provide assistance, and within the framework of the European Union's programme of priorities, we will maintain our collaboration and consider deploying capabilities to Moldova, a country bordering the conflict zone."

The meeting, held in Chisinau and also attended by the Secretary General for Defence Policy, Admiral Juan Francisco Martínez Núñez, concluded the Minister for Defence's trip to Ukraine and Moldova. During her visit, Robles reiterated Spain's commitment to and collaboration with the Ukrainian cause and received the Order of Princess Olga, Third Class, from President Volodymyr Zelensky, awarded for her demonstrated support of his country.
