The meeting, held at the Palacio de Viana before both ministers travelled to the Moncloa Palace to participate in the High-Level Meeting between Spain and Morocco, allowed them to discuss the details and implementation of the agreements that Albares and Bourita would later sign.

These agreements cover such important issues as Feminist Diplomacy, Cooperation between Diplomatic Schools, and the exchange of young diplomats between the two countries.

During the meeting, the ministers also expressed their intention to renew their commitment to the path set by the 2022 roadmap and to continue making progress on deepening a relationship of friendship and neighbourliness that also extends to the rest of the African continent. In this regard, the two ministers highlighted the co-organisation of the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Portugal as a significant impetus full of opportunities on the near horizon.

Spain remains Morocco's leading trading partner. In terms of trade volume, Morocco was the third largest destination for Spanish exports in 2024, reaching €12.859 billion, behind only the United States and the United Kingdom. At the same time, Morocco ranked fourth as a supplier of goods to Spain from outside the EU, with €9.834 billion.

Other points highlighted included the frequency of high-level meetings between Albares and Bourita, who recently met on the sidelines of the Conference on Feminist Diplomacy in Paris and on the sidelines of the last plenary session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York last September.
