The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, received the Secretary-General of the OECD, Mathias Cormann, today, Wednesday, 26 November. Secretary-General Cormann travelled to Spain to present the country's Economic Survey 2025, which reflects the country's strong economic performance and growth.

During the meeting, Albares reaffirmed Spain's bid to host the OECD Regional Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean Ministerial Summit in 2026. Spain supports strengthening the relationship between the organisation and Latin America, as reflected in its collaboration on the aforementioned Regional Programme and the adoption of the OECD Strategic Framework for the region at the 2025 Council of Ministers meeting.

Mathias Cormann's visit to Spain coincides with his re-election as Secretary General of the OECD for the next term. The Minister highlighted his commitment to multilateralism and shared interests, as well as the OECD's work in areas such as development, climate change, the digital transition, social inclusion, and gender equality.
