The Government of Spain again condemns the attacks against Israel on 7 October 2023, on its second anniversary

The Government of Spain reiterates its firm and resounding condemnation of the atrocious attacks perpetrated by the terrorist group Hamas on 7 October 2023.

The Government remembers and conveys its solidarity to the families and relatives of all the victims, and especially to those of Maya Villalobo and Iván Illarramendi, the two Spanish citizens murdered that day.

Two years on, the Government expresses its solidarity with the families of the remaining hostages and demands their immediate and unconditional release.

Today we may be close to their release, thanks to the US proposal, and we urge the parties to reach an agreement.

An end to violence is imperative

After twenty-four months of indescribable suffering, an end to the violence, a ceasefire, the release of hostages, massive humanitarian access are imperative.

The Government will continue to fight against any display of anti-Semitism, which has no place in Spanish society.

The Government redoubles its commitment to the implementation of the two-state solution living side by side in peace and security, the only path to peace and stability in the region.
