The agreement establishes lines of collaboration for the promotion of youth exchanges, sports and volunteering activities that promote intercultural understanding, civic engagement and youth inclusion. It also aims to exchange good practices to strengthen child protection systems and create safe digital environments.
At present, both in Spain and Colombia, bills are currently before parliament to regulate these environments and promote digital literacy.
It also plans to promote international mechanisms in coordination with organisations such as the Ibero-American Youth Organisation (OIJ) and to promote support for children affected by the armed conflict in Colombia through protection programmes and staff training.
The agreement will also promote initiatives that support the inclusion of youths in decision-making and community development processes, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued.
Minister Rego highlighted the value of the agreement, which "strengthens the ties between the two countries and consolidates a common agenda based on equity, inclusion and the development of new generations," she said during the meeting. She also highlighted the importance of political participation of youths and children in both countries.
