Since February 2020 - before the impact of the pandemic - the system shows an increase of 479,680 workers from other countries.
The majority of workers (87%) coming from Ukraine are in the General System, i.e. they are salaried workers, and 13% are self-employed.
Average contributors
In average terms and without seasonal adjustment, i.e. in the original series, Social Security registered 2,686,990 foreign contributors this month, 10,462 more than in August. Of the total, 881,774 workers come from EU countries (32.8%) and 1,805,216 from third countries (the remaining 67.2%). The largest groups came from Romania (337,765), Morocco (309,639), Italy (182,757), Colombia (171,982) and Venezuela (146,126). Of the total, 55.6% are men and 44.4% are women.
In the past twelve months, the average number of foreign contributors has grown by 9.4%, i.e., 230,971 employed people have been added.
65,946 Ukrainian contributors
Among the various nationalities, there are 65,946 national insurance contributors from Ukraine. This is 18,687 more than in January 2022, prior to the start of the war, representing an increase of 39.5%.
Systems and sectors
Overall, 83.9% of foreign national contributors are in the General System and total 2,253,419. The sectors that have added the most employees are Education (21.7%) and Agriculture, Livestock, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing (6.8%), in addition to the Special Agricultural System, which increased by 5.3%. On the other hand, there was a fall in the number of contributors,mainly in Activities of Households as Employers (-7.46%) and Public Administration (-6.58%).
For its part, the self-employed system has 427,801 foreign contributors. Of all the self-employed people from other countries, 14.9% come from China, 10.9% from Romania and 9% from Italy.
