To this end, visits by Indonesian inspectors for the certification of exporting establishments will be re-established in January 2024.

Other topics analysed by the two ministers were the Spanish agri-food sector in the application of new technologies and the digitalisation incorporated into its production processes, greenhouse fruit and vegetable production using the best techniques to improve its efficiency, and the Government of Spain's water management to make the most of every drop of water.

In 2022, with a favourable agri-food trade balance for Indonesia, Spanish exports totalled €61.8 million, representing a growth of 8.26% compared to 2021. The Asian country, with more than 275 million inhabitants, is a market of interest for Spanish sectors such as beef, cattle and pork, with 5,510 tonnes of exports that generated €14.95 million, and fresh and frozen fish products, especially tuna, with exports of €7.17 million in 2022.

Following the meeting, visits by Indonesian inspectors, which had been halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, have been re-established, as some administrative procedures had been interrupted and will be resumed shortly.
