"The special circumstances of this summer make it necessary to launch an advertising campaign to remind inbound tourists that holidays in Spain are a safe bet. The campaign reinforces the reasons and emotions that have made our country their favourite destination in a year where the competition to attract tourists that decide to travel abroad will be very strong. To that end, TURESPAÑA has committed to emotional creativity that sets out products and places from all around the country that evoke sensations to encourage tourists to come back to Spain", stated Reyes Maroto.

The campaign is aimed as a priority at European tourists that see Spain as their second home, who have emotional ties with Spanish destinations where they have enjoyed unique and unforgettable experiences. Reyes Maroto sought to convey to inbound tourists a message of confidence, "Spain is a safe destination and we are waiting for you; the time has come to return".

The new Spain tourism portal maintains the same domain of spain.info, but after 19 years the portal has been completely renewed. The page has been modernised with a more dynamic web page and a great visual impact, with noteworthy new tools that focus on facilitating the planning of trips with interactive maps and better information, with downloads of digital brochures and the possibility of making reservations from among the 2,000 tourist experiences that are advertised to book on the portal.

Tourism Sector Conference

The minister chaired the meeting of the Tourism Sector Conference, at which she informed the councillors of the new official Spain tourism portal and the international promotion campaign, and which approved the Tourist Destination Sustainability Plans to reactivate the tourism sector, making it more dynamic.

The Tourist Destination Sustainability Plans will be jointly developed with the regional governments and local authorities. These plans will lead to the implementation of actions designed to develop and improve tourist destinations based on quality; support the reconversion of pioneering tourist destinations; drive the development of tourist destinations located in rural and inland areas and strengthen local entities that manage tourist destinations. "With a budget of 53 million euros until 2022, we hope that some 260 destination can benefit from these to tackle the fall in current demand due to the coronavirus and to prepare them for the future and make them more competitive", stated the minister.
