Spain declares its profound concern over the conclusions contained in the preliminary report of the Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS), which is backed by Spain. These conclusions show that during this process some of the principles that should prevail in any election have been breached and show, among other problems, that there was a lack of transparency in the electoral arbiter and a lack of fairness.
The Government of Spain urges, with all due speed, that an analysis be made of the electoral integrity by the OAS, invited to this end by the Bolivian Government. The Government of Spain hopes that this path will allow the credibility of the electoral process to be restored and guarantee respect for the democratic will as expressed by the Bolivian voters through the ballot box.
Lastly, Spain, which will continue to follow this matter closely, urges all parties to resolve their conflicts through the Bolivian institutions and exercise their right to freely demonstrate by peaceful means.
