The Acting Minister for Public Works highlighted Spain's interest in hosting this event at the 40th Assembly of the ICAO, which took place this week in Montreal (Canada), coinciding with the 75th anniversary of this international organisation.

José Luis Ábalos expressed the unconditional support and commitment of the Government of Spain to gender equality policies in the aviation sector to the Assembly.

According to the acting minister, the organisation of the Global Aviation Gender Summit represents a great opportunity for Spain to once again make the unconditional position of this government clear in its backing for all actions that consolidate progress towards real and effective equality between men and women.

He also particularly underlined this support for equality policies in the field of aviation, as contained in ICAO Assembly Resolution A39-30, since the sector requires a boost through these actions to move towards real equality.

The acting minister also highlighted Spain's organisational abilities to host the event and be the host country that brings the different parties involved together within an effective work framework on a sensitive matter for this government.
