Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros takes office as High Commissioner for the 'Spain' Brand

In his speech, Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros expressed his gratitude for the confidence placed in him and stressed that he will assume the role as he would a "mission for my country". He explained that his goal is "to recover Spain's image and return it to a position of prominence along with everyone's help".
The High Commissioner will officially answer to the President of the Government through the Foreign Policy Council and institutionally to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. His rank will be equal to that of State Secretary for the purposes of representation and protocol but he will receive no remuneration.
The High Commissioner's main objective will be to improve Spain's image abroad, as well as to support the planning of activities by the various bodies of the Public Administration Services at an international level and oversee their completion. He will also support overseas promotion activities and foster joint public-private partnership action in this area.
