The Ministry of Defence is fulfilling its commitments regarding investment in security and defence, support for the Spanish industry, job creation, and the development of synergies with universities to retain talent.
Robles conveyed this message during the meeting of the National Committee on Security and Technological Sovereignty, where she highlighted the presence of Spanish military personnel in nearly 20 missions abroad. "Peacekeeping missions for which certain capabilities are required, just as they are needed to deal with emergencies, such as the terrible fires we are currently experiencing. For this reason, and because we firmly believe that investing in defence is investing in peace, we will continue to work towards this commitment to R&D&I and to increasing the role of domestic industry in our programmes".
"The global situation", the minister noted, "presents us with a significant challenge that, in addition to directly impacting our security, also affects the economic and employment landscape".
In this regard, it is worth noting the importance of developing defence-related industrial programmes across the country; these initiatives drive economic activity, foster territorial cohesion, help settle populations, create synergies, retain talent and generate highly skilled jobs.
