"Education is necessary to build a fairer world," she said during the inauguration of the third edition of the Erasmus Generation Meeting in Seville, under the slogan "Eliminating barriers for active and equal participation".

In her speech, Rego underlined the commitment of the Ministry of Youth and Children to work for equal opportunities for all young people and to remove existing barriers that hinder their full participation in society.

The minister stressed that the Erasmus+ programme is no longer limited to universities, but encompasses various sectors, including youth and sport, managed directly by the Spanish Youth Institute (INJUVE).

In addition, the minister emphasised the importance of programmes such as the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+ Youth in promoting the inclusion and mobility of young people, highlighting that more than 40% of their participants belong to one of the groups with fewer opportunities and more than 45% of the projects financed have a climate theme.

In terms of European youth mobility, Rego proudly pointed out that Spain is the second country in terms of the number of participants in the Erasmus+ Youth programme and the third in the European Solidarity Corps. Furthermore, the minister highlighted that Spain is the second country in terms of the number of DiscoverEU applications.
